About Tim
Tim Gwaltney is a highly experienced third-generation ironworker with a remarkable 45-year career in the construction industry. As a business owner managing a team of 60 employees across both union and non-union environments, Tim has overseen the successful completion of over 2,500 buildings, including schools, public works, police and fire stations, prisons, military bases, and international airports. His work has spanned both national and global markets, with contributions to large-scale manufacturing facilities and complex projects worldwide.
In addition to his extensive project management experience, Tim has been actively involved in training and inspection throughout his career. He has provided hands-on training to crews in the proper erection techniques for pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), ensuring adherence to safety standards and best practices. As a field service manager for a leading PEMB manufacturer, Tim also participated in testing metal decking and other construction materials in collaboration with manufacturers. His role in quality control and inspections has cemented his reputation for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.
Tim has also been involved in significant projects for the Bureau of Reclamation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, further demonstrating his capability to manage complex and regulated construction projects that require strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Additionally, he has managed highly sensitive projects that demand strict confidentiality and security measures, further showcasing his expertise in handling complex regulatory environments.
As a third-generation ironworker, Tim is now training the fourth generation, passing down his vast knowledge and expertise to ensure that future ironworkers continue to uphold the high standards of the industry. His leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to both safety and craftsmanship have made him a highly respected figure in the construction world.
